From earlier this week: took an ride with the happiest hippie taxi driver in NYC. He immigrated here from Korea, has been in the city for about thirty years, and gave me a history lesson on the Irish (which I wasn’t sure was accurate but enjoyed anyway).
His tricked-out cab displayed just a few of the things he’s passionate about, including the following: puppies, MJ, various flora, James Dean, Elvis, Verne Troyer, more puppies and Bob Marley. The two Wendy’s plastic cups cracked me up, especially the one filled with office supplies - maybe he likes to do a little arts and crafts during red lights?
Before I got out, he made sure to tell me I have a pleasant aura which is sure to get me lots of jobs, and he’s glad I was raised right and am not a “crazy American girl.” Whatever that means.
Gawd, it’s things like this that make my heart overflow with love for New York.
This is so great! Now, can we influence other cab drivers to “transform” their cabs something similar to this one?…
