Friday Night Lights. I talk about it all the time, I know, but there is a reason for it. It’s a lot more than a show about high school football, it’s a show about life. It’s more about the stresses and joys off the field than the drama that unfolds on it. You see the characters at their lowest points, struggling with drugs, heartbreak, death, and family conflict but you also see them at times of celebration, state championships, transformed lives, new beginnings, and the love a husband and wife can show to their daughters and the community around them. Every show has these moments, but the thing that makes Friday Night Lights different is that you become invested in the character’s lives. You start talking about them as if you know them intimately and you want the best for them (or some of them, at least). So in those low moments, you feel like you can understand what they’re going through, and it hurts you too. And in their joy, you can’t help but smile and share in their happiness. I know all this sounds over the top, especially to does who never watched the show, but it’s a testament to how much I love this show and how important it is to me. Friday Night Lights is my favorite television series and it always will be.
Cheers to the best show of our generation.
Well put, Sam! Why do they have to let this go…..?
